P.R. McDowell posted Never Dive Alone, the poem?

On Thursday the 11th of June 2009 I attended what I class as the most informative, informal and influential arts conference I have attended yet. That arts conference was in fact Never Dive Alone and despite not making many contacts I came away happy after spending the day as somewhat of a celebrity due to two particular videos which featured me in them were played on loop throughout the day. I took part in discussions, gave (what I hope turned ou... [read more]

Chris Hammond posted The Resources and Links

Hmm I think I'm trying to overload a free social networking site. I have just put up a new tab with links to the websites, books and articles mentioned at the event, but the links don't work. Of course you could copy them and paste them in to your web browser but that's a bit tedious. So, since there is lots we want to post up, evaluation links to Fickr for photo's, the full transcript we will put them all up on our website - so just click on the... [read more]

Lisa Simpson left a note

Hi Alan I'm not sure if we have as I studied in Coventry from 94-98 and moved to Yorshire till about 18 months ago.

The Simpson Board came about when Adam Benjamin who at the time was a Co-founder of Can-DoCo did a five day residency in 95 at Hereward College involving disabled and non disabled students. To cut a long story short, the methods in which I produced visual artwork was the inspiration for creating a tool that enables people like ourselves to choreograph.

I'll answer the rest tomorrow went I meet up with you.

Take care

your Lisa

Hi Lisa, I'm sure we've met?????I think I've seen the Simpson board used a while ago. maybe it was by you??? Do you dance as well as choreograph??My work involves finding ways for all people to dance, sometimes I use my soundbeam, which can be operated just by an eye movement. Will you be at the event on Thursday? Do you usea communication aid like me?? Glad we are in touch. Did you ever work with Candoco at EDGE Hill uni in about '96?? Alan

So, in the lead up to the conference, I've been thinking about collaboration, what it means to me? what I'd like it to look like in practice and how when successful it demonstrates many positive working approaches including inclusive practice. What does a successful collaboration look like to you? How do you approach collaboration? How do you select the right collaborators? Can you think of a time when a collaboration has worked particularly well... [read more]
